Summer Auctions 2022

Summer Auctions 2022

We have come to the end of our Summer Auctions of 2022! With more than 1.400 lots up for auction – nearly 70% of which were sold - and more than 1,8 million in sales, we look back on a wonderful week.

Our Exclusive Jewellery & Watches and Fine Silver auction on Tuesday was led by a stainless steel ‘Nautilus’ gentlemen’s wristwatch by Patek Philippe which was sold for € 68.000 and a pair of fine Dutch silver salt cellars which went under the hammer for the astounding price of € 88.000, exceeding its high estimate many times over.

The Arts of the East: Asian Ceramics & Works of Art auction had many beautiful items, such as a rare Chinese figure of Buddha which sold for € 25.000, a large folding screen with paintings of guanyins which found a new owner for € 34.000 and even a superb Chinese bronze figure of Dhanada that sold for € 35.000, more than five times its high estimate. However, the star of Wednesday’s auction was a pair of large Japanese cloisonné vases, with a result of € 150.000!

We move from Asian ceramics to European ceramics with our Home & Interiors: Antique Furniture & Design, Ceramics & Decorative Art auction! Two bowls by Dame Lucie Rie sold for € 8.000 and € 24.000, respectively. Further proof that smaller items can fetch good prices are a carved marble portrait of Justus Lipsius, which sold for € 7.500 and a silver commemorative plaque by Johan Coenraad Altorf, which changed hands for € 6.000.

We would like to thank all participants: thank you to our consigners, our bidders, our buyers and everyone who helped make these auctions and their wonderful results a reality. We hope to see all of you at the next auctions!
