Highlights Indonesian Art Sale: Paintings, Sculptures, Silver, Textiles and Ethnographic Art from the Archipelago

We leave a magnificent Indonesian Art Sale behind us, which achieved an outstanding result of €800.000 in sales and more than 80% sold lots in the live auction.

A world record for Venduehuis The Hague! The highlight of the sale was the enamel advertising sign designed by Johann Anton Willebrord von Stein for Rotterdamsche Lloyd which sold for a hammer price of €210.000 (€260.400 including buyers commission) exceeding expectations, and indisputably the most expensive enamel sign known to have ever been hammered down in auction! Several bidders in the salesrooms and on the phone fought for this beautiful Art Deco enamel board. We would like to congratulate both buyers and consigners.

Further highlights include an oil on canvas by Arie Smit sold for €48.000, a work by Srihadi Soedarsono hammered down at €38.000, and ‘A macaw on a branch’ by Rudolf Bonnet which was estimated at €6,000 to €8,000, soared well above that to sell for €28.000.

We wish to thank you all – consignors, bidders, buyers – to participate in our auctions.
