Two Delft blue and white plaques of a church interior dated 1684
1684, Netherlands A pair of rectangular pottery tiles depicting a crowded church (in mirror image). The backs are dated 1684 and also the pulpits show the number 84. Possibly commemorating the 100th death anniversary of Prince William of Orange (1533-1584). These plaques were last sold by Salomon Stodel in 1965 who described these as

Late 18th century, Netherlands Decorated with cornflowers and pink roses. Gilt trimmings. Mostly marked with underglaze blue marks for Amstel and Loosdrecht (M.O.L.). Includes tureens, baskets, cream pots, sauce servers, plates and platters, ca. 160 pieces. Provenance: Sotheby's Amsterdam 30-03-1999 lot 287. Private collection, Amsterdam.
