Lot 2035 An antique 18k gold diamond set of jewels, by Bonebakker
The Venduehuis The Hague is delighted to present at auction a beautiful antique 18k gold diamond set of jewels, by Bonebakker. Made in circa 1910, the brooch is mounted with a detachable cluster set with an old-cut diamond and surrounded by smaller diamonds. The set also includes an additional bangle and a tortoise hairpin to use with the detachable diamond cluster.

Lot 2606 A famille rose cockerel shape wine pot
This wonderful whimsical cockerel wine pot in colourful famille rose enamels dates from the Qianlong period, circa 1740. An old label on the base reveals that this Chinese porcelain pot was once part of the collection of Sir Bernard Eckstein. The lid is also topped with a smaller cockerel acting as a finial.

Lot 6573 Daniel Marot
This beautiful engraving by Daniel Marot depicts a fair with festivities organised by The Hague Schutterij. Marot was a French artist, printmaker, engraver and architect. This engraving was made as part of the celebrations organised for him. This lively print is an accurate representation of life in those days.

Lot 102 Johannes Christiaan Karel Klinkenberg (1852-1924)
Johannes Christiaan Karel Klinkenberg lived and worked for most of his life in The Hague, but from November 1887 to April 1893 he lived in Amsterdam, the city with its historical city centre and reflective canals, which provided the inspiration for some of his best works. Klinkenberg particularly excels in portraying sunlight, often reflected on the canals. With warmth and freshness, Klinkenberg’s cityscapes vibrate with life. Our present lot is drawn from life in a rich, multi-faceted, well-balanced and yet still lively composition, through the brilliance of the sunlight and through just the right number of people in view.

Lot 121 Isaac Israels (1865-1934)
Isaac Israels was a painter of the mondaine society, the carefree lifestyle, with lots of colourful sparkles. Painting en plein air was Israel’s favourite way of painting. Through plein air paintings Israels learnt how to paint sun and light, his breakthrough into an impressionistic style of painting. Two fisher women from Scheveningen on the beach is masterfully executed with broad and quick brushstrokes and hues of pinkish-yellow. A perfect example of Israels at his best.

Lot 5557 Jacques Adnet (1900-1984), the metal decoration by Gilbert Poillerat (1902-1988)
This long side cabinet or ‘meuble d’appui’ reflects very clearly the antimodernist attitude that Adnet shared with many French designers and artists just before and during the Second World War. The model was first presented at the Grand Palais in Paris, where it adorned the hall designed by the Compagnie des arts français at the 29th Salon des artistes décorateurs in 1939. The objects that surrounded the cabinet - a pair of oak chairs and decorative panel designed by Pierre Oliver - similarly evoked the return to craftsmanship and more traditional styles that characterised Adnet’s work during this period. The piece was made by Adnet and Poillerat for the Compagnie des arts français, an interior design and decoration company founded by André Mare and Louis Süe in 1919 and installed at 116 rue du Faubourg-Saint- Honoré in Paris. In 1928, Adnet took over the artistic direction of the company and enlisted many avant-garde designers and decorators such as Charlotte Perriand, Djo-Bourgeois, Francis Jourdain and René Herbst.
